The idea of equipping the Les Paul with a tremolo is almost as old as the model itself. Bigsby probably did the best job of installing a visually appropriate tremolo. Unfortunately the tuning stability and functionality left something to be desired. The logical next step was to equip a Les Paul with a Floyd Rose tremolo. A break in style? Definitely. However, it works excellently, is tuning stable and Gibson also deliberately broke new ground with the other modern features of this Paula. The design of the neck-body transition is wonderfully ergonomic. Almost like a continuous neck the neck flows into the body, allowing unimpeded access to the higher registers. The mahogany body in a gloss finish with a beautifully flamed maple top looks quite normal, but is equipped with a "weight relief" construction. In contrast to "chambering", which also changes the sound and resonance of an instrument, only the amount of mahogany used and therefore the weight of the guitar is reduced. Together with a 6 mm thinner body this results in a fabulous weight of just 3450 grams for this Paula. In addition, the body has also been "shaped", making the guitar simply great to play. The same goal is also pursued by the rather wide but somewhat thinner neck profile of the guitar, which is more reminiscent of the 60s than the 50s and is super comfortable in the hand. In terms of sound we are dealing with something very special here as the previous owner had handwound Celentano pickups (Pat. Now/High Gain, Alnico-V) installed. ...and this choice of pickups fits the guitar like a glove! Here we are dealing with an absolute Rock axe which killer sound immediately reminds you of the great sounds of the 80s. Super defined basses, beautiful and assertive mids with just the right punch! The previous owner, who unfortunately lost the affiliated certificate, was so addicted to this sound that he liked to play this gem a lot and often. This is particularly evident from the numerous belt buckle scratches on the back. Fortunately however, the frets are in top condition apart from minimal traces of use on the first two frets, which means that the future owner of this top player will be able to enjoy many years of great playing fun.
