Tom Anderson Grand Am Translucent Red (1988)

Guitars from Tom Anderson, one of the most respected names on the flourishing market for custom guitars, are known for the best tonewoods, superb workmanship and great playing characteristics. And this guitar once again clearly shows where the bar is set. This Grand Am is simply an all-round perfect guitar! Beautiful quilted maple top in “Translucent Red” with matching headstock. The neck was made from “Hard Rock” maple with a fingerboard made from the very rare “Pau Ferro” wood. Not only does it look extremely attractive, it also ensures the very best sound characteristics. The “Heavy Frets” are perfectly dressed and together with the flatter C-neck profile give the guitar the very best modern playing comfort. There is also a recessed Floyd Rose, which can really withstand any dive bomb. But the real icing on the cake of this exceptional guitar is that it has been optimally upgraded with an “Errorhead” set from Kloppmann and in the course of this CTS potis, hand-selected and matched by Kloppmann, have been installed (the original pickups and potis are of course included). This pickup set, which was specially developed for Marcus Deml, consists of two “Real 62 Strat” singlecoils on the neck and in the middle and an “HB-DML” humbucker on the bridge. The “Real 62 Strats” sound comparatively fatter in the basic tone and the “HB-DML” can be split, making the “Best of Both Worlds” possible here: an official singlecoil tone with vintage character and a singing, legendary Kloppmann humbucker lead tone. From classic Heavy Rock to Blues and super clean sounds, everything is delivered here in the very best manner! Very fat tone with more than enough sustain for singing lead sounds. This in conjunction with the Tom Anderson “Switcheroo” and a blower switch enables a wide range of sound combinations. If the blower switch is in the upper position, each pickup switch tilted downwards switches on the respective pickup connected in series. However, if you tilt the blower switch downwards, only the humbucker is active, which can also be split using the corresponding pickup switch. Tone diversity par excellence! And no matter in which position, ...this Kloppmann-Anderson is always 100% convincing: from glassy, pearly and clear to warm, fat and bluesy-rocky. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer you this perfect all-round instrument, which has of course seen some minor wear and tear over the past four decades, in very good condition.
