In 1986, in his company's second year of production, Paul Reed Smith became aware of Ted McCarty, the former highly innovative president of the Gibson Corporation. McCarty then worked as a consultant for PRS and left his mark in many different ways. This can also be seen in this “Ted McCarty Limited Edition”, which impresses across the board with its extremely powerful, balanced and open sound. Even when played dry it is extremely resonant and woody and shows its full strength on the amp. The P90s enchant with their crisp, brilliant and dynamic sound, so that everything from bright Funk to warm Blues to earthy Rock is possible in absolute top form. And this PRS not only sounds really good and plays excellently with the popular “Wide Fat” neck profile, it also looks fantastic. The distinctly grained 10 top in a great “McCarty Burst” finish made of wonderfully patterned curly maple shows a phenomenal flame, the rosewood fingerboard with fine binding and the unmistakable “Birds” inlays rounds off the fantastic appearance. ...and another special feature should not go unmentioned: this Ted McCarty also comes with a “Santana Headstock Shape with the most beautiful curly maple veneer.
