In 2016, PRS celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Private Stock program with the "Guitar of the Month" series. Each month, an exclusive guitar limited to only 20 pieces was released, showing what the PRS Custom Shop is capable of. With the November model in Royal Blue, the company paid tribute to its long-standing collaboration with former Gibson chief developer Ted McCarty. And here we are really dealing with a very special singlecut McCarty! The body is made of lightweight swamp ash with a beautiful "curly maple" top. The neck and fretboard are also made of maple, with a binding of East Indian rosewood. The intricate inlays on the fingerboard and headstock were made of paua and mother of pearl. After the "wow" moments of admiring the looks, it's only when you play it that you really realize what a masterpiece has been achieved here! The Pattern Vintage Neck is a bit more chunky, but plays incredibly pleasantly even with fast licks. And the sound of the 58/15 humbuckers is just as smacky, dynamic and three-dimensional as the PAFs from Ted McCarty's days at Gibson in the late fifties. The special wood selection gives the guitar a fresh and lively basic character and also ensures a dream weight of not even 3.6 kg. All around simply a world class guitar that we can offer you in immaculate collector condition!
