Here we have a PRS Private Stock Santana Retro 1980 in "Santana Yellow", which is an authentic replica of the first "Pre-Factory" Santana model from 1980. Only a few specimens of this phenomenally beautiful, strictly limited edition PRS were originally made for the 2019 Crossroads Festival, but due to immense demand in the following two years Paul Reed Smith decided to build a few more units. As usual with Private Stock models you'll find only the finest specs here: a fantastic curly maple top, mahogany body and neck, African Blackwood fingerboard, artistic "Solid Green Ripple Abalone" inlays, plus the tried-and-true Gen-II tremolo and Phase-III locking tuners. Pickups used are a PAF-like 58/15 humbucker on the neck and the much hotter HFS humbucker on the bridge (HFS stands for "Hot, Fat & Screams"). As expected you can conjure the creamiest lead sounds out of this guitar - matching its namesake. This Santana Retro is made for melodic lines with a lot of sustain and soulful bends. The fact that it never muddles is thanks to the brilliant, clear and transparent basic character of the guitar, which also shines through in clean sounds. The flawless playing comfort with the special Santana-C neck profile does the rest to make this guitar an experience in a class of its own!
