PRS Paul's Guitar 85 Private Stock Electric Tiger Glow (2020)

The boss himself was responsible for this very special collector's model from PRS: Paul Reed Smith reserved 85 maple tops for the Paul's 85 guitars and also selected himself the remaining woods for the strictly limited series of 85 pieces from PRS' Wood Vault. The body here is African mahogany, the neck is dark Peruvian mahogany and the fingerboard is Honduran rosewood with curly maple binding. The look of the guitar is crowned by a curly maple top in the special Electric Tiger Glow color. This color uses a special staining and spraying technique that highlights the beautiful, wide curly maple. The final finish is a special paper-thin, high-gloss vintage nitro finish that shows numerous hairline cracks over time to give the guitar a special vintage patina. The very comfortable Pattern neck profile is also exactly to Paul's specifications. Together, this results in a guitar with incredible sustain, balanced and fresh fundamental sound and optimal playability. The transmission to the amp is provided by the PRS TCI humbuckers, which can be split to singlecoils on this model with two small toggle switches. With these specs it is clear that the guitar also plays in the Champions League in terms of sound. And yet, just enthusiasm arises when you hear the guitar for the first time in "loud". The humbuckers deliver a singing, rich tone with just the right "nose" that gives it a unique character. So it's pretty hard to put Paul's 85 in a showcase merely as a collector's item!
