“All guitarists have a sound in their head - a sound that evolves and grows as they progress and discover all the beautiful idiosyncrasies that make up their individual voice. To facilitate this process, players need a vibrant, dynamic guitar that becomes a free space for their personality to unfold. PRS and I designed the Fiore (Italian for 'flower') to be that guitar.” With these words Mark Lettieri describes the PRS Fiore, released in 2022, which offers a modern aesthetic, effortless playability and an outstanding, sophisticated sound as part of the Bolt-On series. The Fiore pickups were carefully developed and matched by Lettieri and PRS. The “ Fiore-S” singlecoils on the neck and in the middle offer exceptional malleability in tone and are capable of capturing the full articulation from whispery melodies to Funk and Rock explosions. In contrast, the “Fiore-H” humbucker on the bridge fulfills Lettieri's desire for maximum versatility in the treble position: enough power and punch for high-gain lead sounds, but with a soft top end that allows the pickup to be played cleanly even with the volume control turned way up. In addition, the singlecoils and the humbucker work together in an extremely balanced way and ensure above-average tonal clarity. The 5-way switch allows the pickups to be switched together or isolated in different configurations and two push/pull pots allow the neck pickup to be added at any time or the bridge humbucker to be switched in series and parallel. Awesome top sound with an enormous range of facets! A body made of swamp ash, a 22-fret maple neck with maple fingerboard and the super comfortable “Fiore” neck profile ensure the very best playability. ...and the look of the guitar is definitely beyond any doubt: the “Black Iris” finish is extremely fascinating with the color appearing black or purple depending on the perspective. The wonderfully light-colored maple neck with the characteristic PRS birds is a perfect match. All in all, a great, soundmighty player guitar with an incredible price/performance ratio, and it's certainly not surprising that it's one of the preferred instruments of guitar greats like Simon McBride.
