The first D-45 was a dreadnought guitar based on the D-28, with the most luxurious ornamentation, made especially for the “Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry in 1933 when he ordered the biggest and fanciest Martin. Not only is it considered the absolute flagship of the Standard series, but as an opulently decorated beauty it is an equally voluminous and great-sounding dreadnought. The finest woods and extensive, hand-inlaid mother-of-pearl and abalone inlays make this guitar one of the most desirable instruments in the luxury class. This can be easily recognized by the beautiful “Amber Burst” finish of this acoustic here. The body is made of East Indian rosewood with a Sitka spruce top, mahagony neck and a deep dark ebony fingerboard with the characteristic 45 inlays. The special “Modified Low Oval” neck profile with “High-Performance Taper” is extremely comfortable to play. Whether for fingerpicking or strumming, you won't want to put this guitar down. The combination of woods ensures optimum vibration behavior, resulting in a truly sensationally balanced sound with powerful basses, tight mids and silvery highs. A wonderfully broad frequency spectrum that leaves nothing to be desired. No bass boominess or overemphasized strings. And although you can hear that this acoustic has been well recorded we can offer it to you in top condition with only minimal signs of use.
