Martin D-18 Authentic 1937 Aged (2023)

We are delighted to be able to offer you a D-18 Authentic 1937 Aged from the Martin Custom Shop today. This acoustic combines the popular sound and comfortable feel of historic acoustic models with today's demands for practicality. 1937 was an excellent year for guitars, characterized by a perfect blend of craftsmanship, innovation and materials. The models from 1937 still serve as cornerstones of the art of guitar making today and continue to set standards for acoustic guitar sounds. This replica from the “Authentic Series” is also based on a D-18 from 1937 and remains true to the original with historically accurate details. The body is made of the finest mahogany from the premium selection with complete hot-glue joints, the top was made of soundmighty Adirondack spruce for perfect vibration behavior and finished with a thin layer of lacquer in accordance with the authentic lacquer formula of the '37 models. The acoustic is also equipped with the so-called “Vintage Tone System”, with which the wood is artificially aged to reproduce the sound of an old Martin. This way it was possible to recreate the appealing visual aesthetics of a vintage guitar and reproduce the special tones that were previously reserved for vintage instruments. The “Authentic 1937” neck profile is extremely comfortable in the hand, making you want to sweep over the deep dark fingerboard made of solid ebony. ...and this D-18 has a truly phenomenal look, no gimmicks, reduced to classic Martin features: “Abalone Old Style 18” fingerboard inlays, “Aged Waverly Nickel” tuners, MultiStripe rosette and “Brown Tortoise Pattern” binding. In addition, the enormously attractive aging with countless hairline cracks and a wonderfully darkened, partially matt lacquer surface is enchanting. The sound is wonderfully clear, warm and extremely assertive thanks to its extremely good projection. The bass is beautifully tight and this enormous presence in the low frequencies merges with the overall sound with the bright, pearly trebles also sounding particularly rich and fat. The sustain is fabulous, the overtones exciting. The guitar comes to its future owner in mint condition.
