John Cruz, the absolute masterbuilder legend of the Fender Custom Shop, set up his own brand in 2021. He, who created musical icons like the John Mayer "Black One", the SRV No. 1 or the Gary Moore Strat, from then on let all his knowledge and many years of experience as a "guitar builder extraordinaire" flow into the production of "John Cruz Custom Guitars". So we are pleased that we can offer you one of his masterpieces, a Crossville ST. Here too, with a weight of 3540 grams, he remains true to his motto that Strats should not be too light for sound reasons, as real vintage originals were only able to convince him from 3.5 kg onwards. In his opinion light guitars respond faster, appear more resonant, but often have a somewhat thinner midrange. Comparatively heavier Strats are perfect for bluesy and more distorted tones as they sound "smoother" and more powerful, which means the tone is fatter and has more sustain. And he's right! This Crossville ST, in which "John Cruz Custom Designed" singlecoils were installed, immediately enchants with its great wiry, yet fat sound, perfect string separation, incredible warmth and fullness with a fast attack and perfect response. Matching this is the great playability with a "Large C" neck profile, 12'' fingerboard radius and 6100 Jumbo frets. As expected John once again outdid himself at the finish. In the proven manner it has a “Vintage White” finish that looks super authentic with just the right degree of relicing. A few blemishes here, numerous hairline cracks there and the whole thing is wonderfully yellowed and weathered with clear color differences in the paint. John Cruz at his best! The guitar will go to its future owner, who will certainly enjoy this gem, including the frets in top condition.
