Malcolm Young, arguably the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time, passed away on November 18, 2018, and what AC/DC fan wouldn't remember Angus Young following his dead brother's coffin, carrying his guitar case the whole time. In it was the Gretsch Jet (nicknamed "Beast"), which accompanied Malcolm Young for decades, was responsible for the very special AC/DC sound and can be heard on countless recordings such as "TNT" or "Back in Black". In 2019 manufacturer Gretsch released this G6131-MY in honor of Malcolm Young, a faithful replica of the Beast. As with the original two of the three pickups are missing, only the "TV Jones Power'Tron" humbucker remains on the bridge. And already at the first play you realize why Malcolm played this model. Due to the special construction of the Gretsch in combination with the TV-Jones pickup we have here the absolute rhythm weapon! Super direct and differentiated in the basses with a clear attack. Here nothing is muddy and the chords always remain nice and open. Pure Rock'n'Roll! Construction-wise the Gretsch G6131-MY follows the Hollowbody design and is composed of a hollow milled mahogany body finished with a maple top. The glued-on mahogany neck offers a powerful shaping with its standard U profile, which is excellent in the hand with an optimal hand rest for classic chord playing. We are pleased to offer you this fantastic replica of a legend that is in super condition except for a few minimal playing marks. For those about to rock ... we salute you!
