Brian Setzer is without doubt one of the most exciting and impressive musicians of our time. From his beginnings with the Stray Cats to big band swing with the Brian Setzer Orchestra Brian has always remained true to his style. During his career he has sold over 13 million records, won three Grammy Awards and received the "Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award" for his work as a guitarist. The G6120T-BSSMK Brian Setzer Signature '59 "Smoke" is an exact reissue of Brian's main guitar, which he has played since his days with the Stray Cats. Every detail has been meticulously replicated including the shape of the headstock and the '59 Gretsch logo, as well as the shape, size and mounting of the pickguard, the positions of the potentiometers for volume and tone, the position of the switches and the finish of the aged, semi-gloss "Smoke Orange" lacquer. This semi-hollow called "Smoke" has been modified in some details over the years by Brian's longtime guitar technician. The basis is the typical Gretsch body made of laminated maple as it has been built almost unchanged since 1959 with slightly enlarged F-holes. The ebony fingerboard has been changed to Brian's taste and now has a 9.5"-12" compound radius, which is fantastic and extremely comfortable to play. The reissue model also has the same rounded fingerboard edges as the original, which together with the satin finish of the lacquer gives the impression of an instrument that has been played for decades. The pickups used are "Dual TV Jones Ray Butts Full-Fidelity". They offer a timeless tone with excellent bass response and the characteristic Filter'Tron sound. Pure Rockabilly! Classic sounds, super authentic: from the aggressive, twangy lead sounds to the soft cleans - this guitar sets sonic standards! !"Smoke" is tour-ready for the stages of the world thanks to an Adjusto-Matic bridge with a fixed rosewood base, a Bigsby B6CGH vibrato tailpiece, a Delrin nut for extensive freedom of detuning and Gotoh locking tuners. We are delighted to be able to offer you this legendary semi-hollow in mint condition.
