"Zoot" is Jazz slang for something extravagant and a "zoot suit" was a style of suit popular with Jazz musicians of the 1940s. This "SG Zoot Suit" was introduced in 2009 and the common element between a zoot suit and this guitar is the special stripes. The unique manufacturing process of the "SG Zoot Suit" involves dyeing the individual strips of birch wood in different colors and then pressing and gluing the strips together. This special body construction, which also includes a Diablo-style bevel, makes the guitar somewhat heavier than most conventional SGs. And of course the matt satin sheen of the extravagant red-blue finish is particularly striking. The playability of the SG is excellent thanks to the "50s Rounded" neck profile (.815''-.970''), the 12'' fingerboard radius and the proven Medium Jumbo frets. So comfortable that you won't get tired of whizzing over the beautiful rosewood fingerboard. In terms of sound, you're dealing with a 496R humbucker on the neck and a 500T humbucker on the bridge, i.e. the hottest wound pickups from Gibson. Despite all their power these pickups are also capable of clean, quiet and clear tones, but it's hardly surprising that they really feel at home in the Hardrock and Metal genre. With incredible punch they deliver a wonderfully aggressive, yet always warm sound on the amp. With a powerful bite, fat and smacking the tones just fly around your ears here! We are delighted to be able to offer you this rare gem in top condition.
