In the spring of 2010 the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville surprised the experts and fans of the legendary 1959 Les Paul Standard with the "Collector's Choice" series. The second replica guitar in this series was the world-famous "Goldie," a '59 Standard with the serial number 9 0629. According to the story, when the owner of the real "Goldie" was presented with the detailed, aged replica he was so excited that he asked himself what his Goldie looked like when it left the Gibson factory. He also wondered what it would be like, if a few Goldie guitars were made in exactly the same optical condition as the original was when it left the factory in 1959. And so it turned out that of the total of 300 "Goldies" produced a full 50 were made in a non-aged version. Absolute top instruments, where selected woods, as well as Burstbuckers 1 and 3 provide for the legendary sound, which we all know and love. The present gloss Goldie with serial number 022 convinces with its fast attack, great response, smacking, differentiated PAF sound with a very own note and super dynamics. This is how you imagine an absolute reference Paula, here every single note is a joy! Its neck has a pleasant 59-Medium profile and is extremely comfortable in the hand making this Les Paul fantastic to play in conjunction with its unbelievable weight of only 3530 grams. And hardly surprisingly the sight of this unaged beauty will make you drool: killer top in pristine Cherry Sunburst, a wonderfully pronounced grain and charming color gradient, simply awesome! Since there are only 50 specimens of this gem in the world its rarity and collector's value is of course exorbitantly high and guarantees the very best value retention. But you shouldn't reduce this special Paula to its unsurpassed status as a collector's item, here you also have a phenomenal player with the very best Les Paul sound. So we are happy to offer you the guitar in absolute collector condition.
