For the 60th anniversary of the 1960 Les Pauls, Gibson released a "60th Anniversary" reissue of these guitars in 2020, which came in three versions: V1, V2 and V3. This took into account the historical fact that the Bursts changed significantly over the year 1960. Our specimen comes in the V1 version, which represents an early guitar of this year. Therefore, it has a not-too-slim 59 neck profile (V1) as well as the gold 1959 pot knobs. The top in "Deep Cherry Burst" impresses with a beautiful, rather straight grain, which becomes very obvious in the right light. For sound optimization, the previous owner took the guitar to George Forester for "Cryo Tuning". This process involves cold-treating the guitar to bring the resonance and balance to a top level. How much of the sound here is due to cryo tuning, of course, can not be said exactly, but one thing is certain: this Les Paul sounds great! Dry already very snappy, resonant and balanced, the Custombuckers on the amp get everything out and let the guitar sing and smack like a great LP is supposed to! A side effect of cryo tuning is often that cracks form in the sensitive finish and binding. This is exactly what happened here. This has no effect on the practical value and almost looks like light aging. We tried to capture that for you as best we could in the photos. Apart from that, the guitar is in top condition and comes to you with a top weight of 3.9kg.
