Gibson Les Paul 60 Collectors Choice CC #38 "Chicken Shack Burst" # 003 (2017)

The earliest 1960s Les Pauls were essentially '59 Bursts with the same beefier neck profile, thin Sunburst finish and as in the case of the “Chicken Shack Burst” a heavily grained maple top. The Collector's Choice #38 is an impressive replica of an original Les Paul with serial number 0 0205, a well-known vintage Burst among the early 60s Les Pauls. Drew Berlin, one of the proud owners, refers to these guitars as “ Double 0” and has worked extensively with the Gibson Custom Shop to create one of the most visually and sonically stunning guitars in the Collectors Choice range. The original was originally owned by Stan Webb, who founded the band “Chicken Shack” in 1965 and played this Burst live into the 1980s before it was sold to collector icon Vic DaPra and shipped to America. Its eye-catching flaming maple top and powerful, bluesy tone caught the attention of players, collectors and publishers alike. It was featured in the book “The Beauty of the Burst” and most recently in “Burst Believers III”, among others. And with this CC#38 with the low serial number 003 everything is just right! The fact alone that this is a “single digit” (i.e. a serial number under 10) makes it an irretrievable collector's item with the very best value retention and it also has a fantastic look with a top that is really rarely seen. It is said that only around 50 pieces of the CC#38 could be built because not enough wood was available for the beautiful top. A great lightweight at only 3750 grams, a super player with a neck that is somewhere between '58/'59 and '60, so not a typical Slim Taper, but rather a slightly slimmer '59 Medium neck. In addition, this Collectors Choice is characterized by the fact that it was also equipped with True Historic specs such as selected woods, hide-glue, etc. The two Di Marzio “Double White” pickups have a slightly higher output than regular Custombuckers, which means that the guitar simply rocks without muddying up or losing dynamics.
