When we opened the case of this beauty we were truly enchanted by its immaculate beauty. And you don't often get to see this very special Les Paul. It is a '59 Les Paul “painted” by Tom Murphy himself, as evidenced by the initials “TM” in the control compartment and a picture of the master in action included in the certificate. However, in contrast to other Murphy Paulas this one has not been aged, but comes in a flawless VOS finish. You almost get the feeling that Tom was so enthusiastic about his masterpiece that he didn't want to “damage” it by applying the characteristic aging marks afterwards. ...and he's right! As always when the master himself is involved, this is another phenomenal wood selection. Rarely do you see such a fantastically grained top! Through consummate craftsmanship and the use of an extra-thin varnish Tom was able to highlight this wonderful special feature of the wood. This Les Paul also impresses with its superb playing comfort thanks to the perfect '59 medium neck profile with rounded shoulders and a dream weight of just 3740 grams. It resonates wonderfully and is extremely resonant, which the two open Zebra Custombuckers transmit to the amp in the best possible way (pickup covers included from the factory). Fat, assertive, differentiated, extremely open and with a slight Strat touch, just like the real old Paulas. Super sound, warm, bluesy and transparent as required, but also wonderfully smacky and biting with distortion. So it's not just the look that is absolutely top class here, but you get an optimum overall package of top sound, best playability, unique look and due to its enormous rarity also the very best value retention.
