When we opened the case of this gem we didn't want to take it out at first since we were so enchanted by its flawless beauty. And until then we had never seen a Les Paul like this. It is a '59 Les Paul painted by Tom Murphy himself as evidenced by the initials "TM" in the control compartment and a picture of the master in action that comes with the certificate. But in contrast to other Murphy Paulas this one has not been aged, but comes in a flawless VOS finish. You almost get the feeling that Tom was so enthusiastic about his masterpiece that he didn't want to "damage" it by applying the characteristic aging marks afterwards. ...and he's right! As always when the master himself is involved, this is another phenomenal wood selection. Rarely have we seen such a fantastically grained top and through consummate craftsmanship and the use of an extra-thin varnish Tom was able to highlight this beautiful feature of the wood. This Les Paul also impresses with its superb playing comfort thanks to the perfect '59 Medium neck profile with rounded shoulders and an ideal weight of 3980 grams. It resonates wonderfully, which the two Custombuckers transmit to the amp in the best possible way. Fat, assertive, differentiated, extremely open and with a slight Strat touch, just like the real old Paulas. Super sound, warm, bluesy and transparent as required, but also wonderfully smacky and biting with distortion. So it's not just the look that is absolutely top class here, but you get an optimum overall package of top sound, best playability, unique look and due to its enormous rarity also the very best value retention.
