Michael Bloomfield - guitar virtuoso who sadly passed away far too early, known as a solo artist, member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and sidekick to Bob Dylan during his legendary performance at the Newport Folk Festival. Having been a dedicated Telecaster player for many years and later playing a Goldtop fitted with P90 pickups, there was no turning back for Bloomfield when he finally became the proud owner of a 1959 Les Paul in 1967. In honor of Bloomfield the Gibson Custom Shop released a strictly limited edition replica of this guitar in 2009. We are delighted to be able to offer you serial number 12 of this edition in the aged version, limited to 100 specimens. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, ...and for us this '59 Bloomfiled is one of the most beautiful Les Pauls we have seen in a long time. The fantastic flame top in legendary “Bloomfield Burst” shows a truly phenomenal grain and a wonderful color gradient. None other than Tom Murphy himself carried out the detailed aging, in which even the smallest traces of play and use of the original were meticulously recreated. The aged hardware matches the original, with a blackened screw on the bridge. The poti knobs are also harmonious as they are a combination of top hats, reflector knob and speed knob. The stronger '59 neck offers a great playing feel and sits comfortably in the hand. In terms of sound, the two Burstbuckers provide vivid cleans with sparkling highs and screaming, smacking distortion sounds with plenty of oomph. The sun really does rise in Blues heaven at the amp: fat, differentiated Les Paul sounds with lots of tone and character! Aged Bloomfields were only available on the market for a short time, as they were sold out immediately. And even today one of these extraordinary Les Pauls only appears very rarely. This specimen, which we can offer you in top condition, certainly counts to the most beautiful ones.
