Michael Bloomfield - guitar virtuoso who sadly passed away much too soon, known as a solo artist, member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and sidekick of Bob Dylan during his legendary performance at the Newport Folk Festival. After being a dedicated Telecaster player for many years and later playing a Goldtop equipped with P90 pickups, there was no turning back for Bloomfield when he finally became the proud owner of a 1959 Les Paul in 1967. In honor of Bloomfield the Gibson Custom Shop released a strictly limited edition replica of this guitar in 2009. We are pleased to offer you serial number 035 of this edition in the VOS version. The fantastic flame top in Bloomfield-Burst shows a very authentic vintage patina due to the VOS finish. Matching this is the aged hardware, detailed with a blackened screw on the bridge. The poti knobs have also been modeled after the original by being a combination of top hats, reflector knob and speed knob. The rather beefy 59 neck offers a killer feel and is comfortable in the hand. Sound-wise, the two burstbuckers provide plastic cleans with sparkling highs and screaming, smacking distortion sounds with plenty of thump. The guitar has been played for the last 14 years, so it's nicely swung in, but still shows only minimal signs of use. But these make it easier to use this unique collector's item, which is otherwise including the frets in top condition, also according to its actual purpose as a killer player. All in all a phenomenal Burst with great rarity value and perfect playing characteristics!
