To mark the 50th anniversary of the legendary 1959 Les Paul Standard in 2009 the Gibson Custom Shop replicated five "real" old Paulas in three versions each. This Les Paul is part of this special edition limited to just 500 specimens and immediately catches the eye with its phenomenal appearance. You really don't see such a fantastic top grain with numerous closely spaced bars, great bookmatching and an extremely pronounced sunburst with deep red edges every day. The gloss finish does the rest to give this guitar such a classy appearance that you don't even dare to take it out of the case at first. Of course the guys at the Custom Shop paid particular attention to recreating the details of the '59 originals as meticulously as possible for these reissues: from the one-piece mahogany body to the figured maple top, the era-appropriate pickguard and the gold-colored top hat knobs with dial pointers and greenish-yellowed tuner knobs. To further emphasize the unique selling point of the series these special 50th Anniversaries come with a "Gold Book", i.e. a gold-colored bound certificate. As expected the playability is also "top of the line": the 59-Medium neck profile is super comfortable in the hand and is extremely pleasant to play with the rounded shoulders. In addition, this is an extremely resonant lightweight at just 3770 grams. This perfect vibration behavior is transmitted to the amp in the finest possible way by the two Burstbuckers (neck:1, bridge: 2). As expected the sound is based on old PAFs with exactly the mids and pearly highs that are associated with these pickups. Beautifully smacking, fat, differentiated with great dynamics. Whether Jazz, Blues or Hard Rock - this Les Paul is at home everywhere and serves all musical genres with flying colors. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer you this gem with only minimal signs of use (small dong on the back of the neck and a few minor belt buckle scratches on the back of the body). The frets are in top condition.
