Here we have just the right Les Paul for those looking for the ultimate 58: True Historic, Murphy Aged and weighing in at just 3.7kg. At first, the pronounced flametop makes you think you're dealing with a classic '59 Les Paul in Darkburst. Only when you feel the somewhat chunkier neck in your hand, you realize that the genes of 1958 are in the guitar - even if it is not quite as thick as a "typical" 58 neck. Of course, it plays absolutely fantastic and gives the guitar in conjunction with the super light body a resonance behavior that you really do not hear every day. The True Historic specs such as selected woods, hide glue, super-thin nitro varnish, etc. probably have their share in this. In terms of sound, the guitar is also an absolute blast: open, transparent, pearly and blessed with tons of sustain, it provides radiant cleans and dynamic, lively distortion sounds. That's what you want to hear from a Les Paul from the absolute high end! The cherry on top is the aging of Tom Murphy, of course, also with the "TM" initials in the hairline cracks.
