Not only flames but also beautiful plaintops can delight - at least when they look like this 58 from the current year 2023. Here, a distinct grain runs across the maple giving the guitar a not so "plain" look. The subtle VOS finish in beautiful Lemon Burst also gives this Paula an extremely authentic vintage patina, making it look confusingly similar to many real old 58s. But if you are expecting a super fat neck that you usually associate with a 1958 reissue, you are absolutely wrong. The neck comes with a 1958 Medium Chunky-C profile, which feels more like a slightly beefier 59 profile. As a result the neck is extremely comfortable in the hand, you have a nice feel in your hand, but not too fat at all. Combined with a dream weight of just 3875 grams this virtually invites you to strum for hours without fatigue. Two unpotted Alnico-III Custombuckers provide the right sound. The already dry very loud and resonant guitar gets a perfect mix of crispness, pearly highs and warmth from these old PAFs modeled pickups. With distortion it immediately puts a smile on your face: smacking, fat and roasting, really no wishes remain open here! You're dealing with a real Rock Les Paul, which is made for screaming solos and biting riffs.
