In 2017, Gibson brought out the so-called Painted Over series. These are Les Pauls modeled after the original 50s Les Pauls, where the owners wanted a color other than sunburst or gold. Over the years, of course, the paint was played off and in some places the original color came back through. Here we have a "Black over Sunburst" model, which is limited to 150 specimens. On the palm rest you can clearly see the red edge of the sunburst underneath and you can even see the flamed top in the wood grain! Particularly noteworthy on this model is the very successful aging. Reminds me overall very much of the Blackburst from the CC series. Despite its low weight of only 3885 grams this Paula already shows its fantastic vibration behavior when played dry. And at the amp it is simply the killer! Super direct and dynamic, the Custombucker Alnico III pickups smack of the very finest and always remain beautifully differentiated. The neck, which has a rather beefy profile somewhere between 58s and 59s, feels great in the hand and plays very comfortably. This Les Paul can really be warmly recommended to any player. Therefore, of course, the guitar has been played a lot in recent years. On the one hand it therefore shows this by being pefectly swung in, on the other hand it has of course one or two traces of use (especially belt buckle scratches on the back). However the frets are in top condition with only minimal playing marks.
