1958 was the decisive year in the history of the Gibson Les Paul. Shortly after the newly developed humbucker pickup by Seth Lover was installed on the Les Paul the finish of the Les Paul also changed in 1958 from the color gold to the much more popular sunburst. The myth of the "Burst" was born! And the early "Burst" finishes faded over the decades, so that in the end no red was visible at all. With this rather rare coloring, known as "Lemon Burst", the lightweight at hand (only 3970 grams!) can also inspire. Combined with the super authentic heavy aging of the Murphy Lab with numerous hairline cracks, as well as smaller and larger quirks it exudes exactly the mojo of the real, old Bursts. And like most of the originals of this year it comes with a plain top, of course. The first thing you notice, however, is the ingenious neck profile. The "Authentic '58 Medium C-Shape" is not at all the usual overly thick profile you'd expect from a '58 reissue. It rather feels like a beefier '59 profile. So pleasant to hold and comfortable to play, you won't want to put this Paula down anytime soon. As for the sound, the Murphy Lab Les Pauls are beyond reproach anyway. Already super resonant, loud and "woody" without the amp the Alnico III Custombuckers show their whole class with the amp: on the one hand extremely fat and smacking, on the other hand clear and crisp. Here it is up to the player alone, which part of the sound spectrum he wants to serve. We are pleased to be able to offer you this powerful sounding beauty with best player qualities in mint, practically unplayed condition.
