There are guitars that don't really exist anymore... The '58 Les Paul Mark Knopfler in the aged version is one of them. It was built in an edition of just 100 specimens, sold out immediately after its release and virtually impossible to find on the guitar market. We are therefore all the more pleased to be able to offer you serial number 80 of this extremely rare delicacy today. “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits probably contains one of the most iconic guitar riffs of all time. Released in 1985, the song marks the beginning of the era in which Mark Knopfler played his '58 Les Paul, which he used on several songs from the album “Brothers in Arms” and at the famous “Live Aid” festival. This replica of this icon of music history was made entirely according to the True Historic specs and at 3795 grams we have a very resonant lightweight with a beautifully powerful neck, but by no means as fat as some other '58 LesPauls. It plays extremely comfortably and pleasantly. We already had several Knopfler Paulas and all of them convinced us with far above-average sound qualities. This Les Paul is no exception. It is striking how incredibly good the guitar already sounds clean. Simply typical Mark Knopfler! Very round and balanced with pleasant warmth and always beautifully pearly and differentiated. But also distorted, bluesy simply a top sound! Lots of character and you can really work with the touch dynamics. Also 100% convincing with the lead sounds! Singing tone with a lot of expression. ...and although many '58 Knopflers often have a rather unspectacular grain, this example has a truly phenomenal top with a pronounced wood pattern and fabulous color gradient. In addition, all traces of use from the original were applied in great detail by none other than Tom Murphy himself. You can really go into raptures here! We are delighted to be able to offer you this rare iconic guitar in absolute collector's condition.
