“Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits probably contains one of the most iconic guitar riffs of all time. Released in 1985 the song marks the beginning of the era in which Mark Knopfler played his '58 Les Paul, which he used on several songs from the album “Brothers in Arms” and at the famous “Live Aid” festival. This replica of this music-historical icon is serial number 045 of the “Aged & Signed” edition, which is limited to just 50 specimens and is not only rare and hard to find, but was also made entirely to True Historic specifications. Pleasantly strong neck, by no means as fat as some other '58 Les Pauls, which in combination with the dream weight of only 3820 grams is extremely comfortable to play. As usual with Les Pauls from the Knopfler series of the Gibson Custom Shop, this guitar is also characterized by its enormous vibration behavior and its exceptional sound quality. Remarkably clean sound, typical of the “Dire Straits” virtuoso Mark Knopfler! Extremely round and balanced with a pleasant warmth and a pearly, differentiated tone as soon as you add a little distortion. For Blues fans this instrument is a real winner! The guitar has a lot of character and responds perfectly to the respective attack dynamics. In addition, lead sounds are also absolutely convincing here as the wonderfully singing tone comes across with a lot of expressiveness.
