In 2015 Gibson honored legendary Rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose with the Collector's Choice #28 STP Burst, a limited edition replica of his 1958 Les Paul, which the exceptional guitarist had used on his last tour with Edgar Winter and on the first two Montrose albums (Montrose and Paper Money). He himself named his Paula "STP" because an STP sticker had been affixed to it years before the purchase and after its removal only a red silhouette remained on the faded Cherry Sunburst finish. The CC28 was developed by Gibson in collaboration with the owner and German studio musician Peter Weihe and through a comprehensive analysis of the original guitar, meticulously reproducing every last detail of the original. This Montrose Burst stands out first of all because it has an extremely beautiful top with exceptional grain and a killer aging. And like all the CC28s we have played so far it is also a top player with its dream weight of just 3730 grams, stripped back neck, higher frets and extremely comfortable '58 Medium neck profile. It sits perfectly in the hand and is extremely comfortable to play. And the sound of this Les Paul is the first choice for fans of classic Rock sounds! The sound is very open, airy and bell-like with a super attack, great tone and always very differentiated. Even in the upper registers this guitar produces singing lead sounds with great sustain. Of course the CC28s have been sold out for a long time and are hard to find on the second-hand market. So we are particularly pleased to be able to offer you this gem in top condition.
