Mick Ralphs, founding member of Mott the Hoople and Bad Company, is primarily associated with one guitar in particular, a 1958 Les Paul with serial number 8 7049. In 2017 the Gibson Custom Shop released an exact replica of this Paula in a limited edition of just 300 specimens. The “Mick Ralphs” is one of the last Collectors Choice guitars to be built and one of the few to be fully equipped with True Historic specs such as a lighter aluminum tailpiece, hide-glue and original plastic parts. With this guitar you simply notice the experience that Gibson has gained during the entire CC series. The aging is super authentic and the Les Paul shows countless fine hairline cracks that come damn close to real weather checking. And this example also has a killer top with a pronounced grain and fantastic color gradient! Custom-wound Custombucker pickups were used to get as close as possible to the sound of Mick Ralph's original. Wonderfully airy, dynamic and differentiated with just the right mids and basses and a slightly tighter output. Ideal for all fans of concise Rock riffs and solo sounds à la Gary Moore. As expected the neck of this '58 is a little stronger, but by no means fat, rather moves in the direction of a slightly stronger 59 Medium profile. In combination with the dream weight of only 3770 grams it plays absolutely first-class and comfortable. We are delighted to be able to offer you this exclusive Les Paul in top condition.
