Take a reference goldtop from the Gibson Custom Shop weighing just 3480 grams and give it to guitar guru Florian Jäger to give the Les Paul a Bavarian Makeover 1 and an oxblood look à la Jeff Beck. The result of such a well thought-out and exquisite approach can be seen in this '54 Paula. You certainly won't get this close to a real '54 Les Paul again soon! Florian Jäger reworked the arched top, changed the neck profile to a genuine 50s profile, painted the guitar with his Jäger nitrocellulose lacquer, applied a fabulous vintage patina and took care of a historically correct Les Paul logo as well as a serial number with the authentic number type. The subtle but thorough aging creates a fantastically greasy vintage patina, which with its matt sheen makes it quite believable that this Les Paul has been around for more than 70 years. Everything here is really vintage-correct, even the speed knobs have been upgraded to those from “Art of Aging” to ensure a wonderful yellowish color. The playing feel is great thanks to the rounded fingerboard edges, a comfortable medium neck profile and the dream weight of just 3480 grams(!). In terms of sound, you are dealing with the characteristic sound of Gibson's P90 pickups, resonant, penetrating and bony. Exactly the sound that we have known and loved for seven decades now. Here everything is possible, from bright Funk to warm Blues to earthy Rock in absolute top form. In terms of sound, appearance and player characteristics this special edition is definitely in the absolute top class!
