With this Les Paul, I really don't know where to start raving. In 2020, this instrument was built in collaboration with Tom Murphy for Musikhaus Hermann. Tom Murphy has used here an exclusively mixed by him Burst lacquer "Murphys Burst". The look is simply outstanding and the finish is so finely applied that you can even feel the grain on the top. The hand selected woods used here are second to none. Super 3D grained ultra-premium Eastern Maple top with extremely wide flames, a select one-piece lightweight Mahogany body, and a beautifully dark Indian rosewood fingerboard to boot. This Les Paul weighs just 3550 grams and resonates like it's been played for 30 years! The pickups here are also special. Tom Murphy opted here for an NPC TH MCMR unpotted Custombucker on the neck and an NPC TH XHCMR unpotted Humbucker on the bridge, modeled as closely as possible after the real old PAF's. The neck profile is called 60s C-Shape Tom Murphy (805-935) and is somewhere between a 59 and a 60's profile. Fits incredibly well in the hand and could easily become my new favorite profile. On amp, this Les Paul reveals a dimension of sound that simply has to be experienced. Every nuance of playing is reproduced, incredible tone, super fast response, smacking, differentiated PAF sound with great harmonics and enough mids. Whether singing high gain Gary Moore sounds, slightly distorted blues sounds bishin to the grippy clean sounds, here you get everything in top form. Absolutely impressive what Jörg Hermann and Tom Murphy have put together here. And I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of the new owner!
