It is often underestimated what you can get out of a guitar with only one pickup. But every time you get your hands on a good Les Paul Junior you wonder what you needed a neck pickup for all those years. That's exactly how it feels with this '57 Junior Reissue from the Custom Shop. Here you fall in love three times. First, the look of the guitar, because the classic TV Yellow is just super authentic here. Refined by the fantastic Heavy Aging of the Murphy Lab with interesting hairline cracks, numerous quirks and the characteristic abrasion in the significant places. And even though you can only guess at it in the photos, the gauzy nitro varnish really lets the wood texture of the body come through nicely. Second, the guitar feels great. The neck is certainly beefier, but fantastically shaped and plays extremely slinky with a not-too-high string action. On top of that it gives the guitar super vibration and sustain due to its mass. Even without an amp you can guess how juicy riffs and solos will come out of the amp here. And that's exactly how it is. Once you hear the guitar amplified you really don't want to lay it away. The Dog-Ear-P90 covers everything you need in terms of frequency. Nice and snappy for lower register riffs, but also fat and warm enough to carry solo licks and single notes. And it doesn't matter if clean, crunchy or really distorted. You can handle just about any sound here. Where the journey goes fully is determined by the musician. The guitar from 2022 is in mint condition. Look, playability, sound - everything is absolutely right here!
