The replica of the Les Paul Custom by Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell was definitely one of the highlights of the past guitar year. Just 100 pieces of the "Wino" were built by the Gibson Custom Shop, all hand-signed by Jerry and gaged in the Murphy Lab true to the original. The guitar comes with a weight-reduced body and a lightly grained top, which is beautifully set off by the wine-red finish. The circuitry is different from a normal Les Paul Custom: In addition to the 498T and 490R humbuckers, a Fishman Piezo is installed. This can be continuously mixed with one of the pots, and the humbuckers can also be continuously added or removed. Thus, in addition to the fat tone of the humbuckers, you have here an acoustic-like sound, which sounds fantastic in practice! Nice and silky and with enough belly for strumming and picking.
