When "Spaceman" Ace Frehley took the stage at the Nippon Budokan in Japan in 1977 with his Les Paul Custom in Cherry Sunburst with three pickups it was during KISS' "Love Gun" tour, arguably one of the most successful tours in Rock history, which was revived in 1996 when the original band members reunited. In honor of Ace Frehley and his iconic Les Paul Custom the Gibson Custom Shop released a replica of this guitar in 2021. Of the Aged version at hand, where really every little detail and every playing trace of the original was replicated, there are only 100 copies worldwide. So we are very happy to offer you serial number 009 (single digit!). According to the original the guitar has a four-piece maple top on a solid mahogany sandwich body and three cream-colored DiMarzio humbuckers. Two Di Marzio Open Coils in the neck and middle positions and a Super Distortion in the bridge position. And just like Ace's guitar the traditional 3-way toggle switch has been modified to use only the Super Distortion, which provides singing lead tones and fat, chunky rhythm tones for the ultimate Hard Rock performance. The overall package is rounded out with original Grover tuners and cream-colored cover caps on the back of the guitar. The "Budokan" certainly represents the ultimate embodiment of 70s Arena Rock and songs like "Detroit Rock City" or "Rock And Roll All Nite" make it forever unforgettable. So you should be quick to secure this fantastic specimen with highest collector's value, which we can offer you in absolute top condition!
