Adam Jones, phenomenal guitarist of the band Tool, is known for his fat sounds, which he immortalized on groundbreaking albums such as “Lateralus”, “10000 Days” or “Fear Inoculum”. His 1979 Les Paul Custom, which he modified in many different ways, is primarily responsible for this sound. Based on this legendary Silverburst the Gibson Custom Shop produced 79 "Aged & Signed" replicas, as well as 179 specimens in the much more affordable VOS version in 2020. In keeping with the original this VOS Paula has a wonderfully authentic, greenish-aged shade of the Silverburst and the VOS finish does the rest to give the guitar a fantastic vintage patina. The elegant ebony fingerboard with block inlays and the chrome-colored hardware, which extends to the knob of the toggle switch and the classic Sperzel tuners, are a perfect match. This Les Paul Custom is stunningly well-made in every detail, feels fantastic with the comparatively slightly flatter “Custom C” profile of the neck and simply blows your ears off on the amp. The guitar's diverse sound spectrum is provided by a reversed Custombucker on the neck and a custom-wound Seymour Duncan DDJ on the bridge. Smacking, fat and powerful, as you would expect from Adam Jones. But always beautifully differentiated and transparent. Songs like “Pneuma”, “Stinkfist” and “The Grudge” just flow out of your fingers. So if you are looking for a guitar that is not only the first choice as a strictly limited collector's item of lasting value, but can also impress with its fantastic sound power, then you have come to the right place. To take the attention to detail to the extreme the Gibson Custom Shop has also included a Jones-style mirror for the headstock to complete the Tool experience. The accompanying case shows two minimal signs of use, which should certainly not come as a surprise to connoisseurs of the “Adam Jones” series from the Custom Shop, as this is known to be unavoidable. However, as the Les Paul Custom comes from a collector's hand the instrument is in mint, practically unplayed condition.
