Gibson ES-335 61 Reissue Murphy Lab Heavy Aging 60's Cherry (2022)

Here we have something very special for ES lovers! This guitar in classic Cherry Red with the extremely authentic Heavy Aging of the Murphy Lab is a guitar that immediately reminds you of Eric Clapton's “Hare Krishna'” ES. And Keith Richards also likes to show off a red semi-hollow from Gibson. Cherry Red is simply the most characteristic color for an ES-335 and in combination with the Heavy Aging it provides a dreamlike dark red weathered vintage patina, sometimes a little matt, sometimes greasy, a wonderfully “rocked” finish with countless hairline cracks, quirks and pronounced abrasions. This is how you would imagine a genuine, old ES-335 that has been played hard for several decades. A special visual and tactile experience! This top instrument was made by hand in the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, TN, with special attention to detail. Of Course great attention was paid to the selection of woods and historically correct features such as the hide-glue finish. This ES plays wonderfully with its “Authentic '61 Skinny C” neck profile, the partially lacquer-free back of the neck and the 22 Medium Jumbo frets. This neck profile is by no means as flat as the usual “Slim Taper”, but you have a little more in your hand here, making it a real pleasure to whizz over the attractive rosewood fingerboard. This joy of playing only increases when you hear the sound of the guitar. The unpotted Custombucker Alnico-III are wonderfully fat and smacky with the characteristic extra airiness in the sound, which is a real joy not only with clean chords but also with distorted Blues riffs. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer you this special overall package, which combines a classically beautiful appearance with the best semi-hollow sounds, in top condition.
