In 1955 Gibson launched the Byrdland, named after the two Country musicians Billy Byrd and Hank Garland. This was one of the few Jazz guitars with a short scale length (23.5''). Furthermore, this new model had an unusually shallow side depth of only 5 cm for the time and a slimmer neck than its predecessors. This was intended to support fast and comfortable playing. From 1957 on two PAF humbuckers were also used, which "Classic 57" replicas provide the good sound in this Masterlabel Byrdland. Breathtaking flamed maple for the body meets soundmighty spruce for the top and a beautifully dark ebony fingerboard. The hardware is luxuriously gold-plated and the classic Sunburst enchants at first sight. The neck, which has been adapted to modern playing habits with a nut width of 44 mm and a stronger profile, sits perfectly in the hand and plays excellently in combination with an ideal weight of 3250 grams. No wonder since this Masterlabel Byrdland comes from the Crimson department of the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, which was founded in 2012 by Michael McGuire to provide archtop guitars in particular with the utmost care and attention in a hand-picked circle of specialists. The corresponding instruments are marked with a red ribbon in each work step, hence the name of this very special series, which represents the most exquisite Gibson Custom Shop instruments. Even when played dry the Byrdland is extremely resonant, warm with a top-notch sustain and a great tone. On the amp the "Classic 57" humbuckers transmit this basic character of the guitar in the best possible way and you can enjoy every single note. Despite the pleasant warmth the guitar is always extremely balanced and differentiated. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer you this exclusive gem, which as a Crimson Masterlabel represents the epitome of "absolute top league", in top condition. ...and as we have known since Ted Nugent at the latest, Byrdlands are not just for Jazz musicians, but are wonderfully versatile.
