Based on the legendary “Workhorse” acoustic J-45 the luthiers in Montana meticulously produce a very special reissue called the “Custom Shop Historic Reissue 1942 Southern Jumbo”. Here you can immediately sense the very special Gibson acoustic vibe that permeates every component of this dream guitar. Back and sides made of rosewood and a thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top, which was finished by hand with ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer in a historically accurate manner. In close cooperation between the University of America and Gibson a process has been developed, in which the top is artificially aged in complex processes by applying temperature and pressure to the cell structure as if the instrument were from the golden vintage years. Furthermore, the focus here was certainly also on optimum playability with the fingerboard edges perfectly rounded for an even better feel and the fingerboard and bridge treated with finishing oil, which maximizes the natural resonance of the woods (nut width: 45 mm, scale length: 629 mm). The sound of this acoustic is also convincing with its classic, wooden and open sound with a great frequency spectrum. This is the perfect tool for singer/songwriters! As a special treat an “M1 Active” pickup from L.R. Baggs is used for stage use, which is the absolute top of the range among soundhole pickups and has a built-in preamplifier with an extremely audiophile circuit for the purely acoustic sound. The active electronics provide a higher output signal that can be plugged directly into any acoustic amplifier or PA system. As proudly as the headstock of the guitar bears the “Only a Gibson is Good Enough” banner, we are now offering you this exclusive instrument in top condition with only minimal signs of use.
