To call Waylon Jennings' original tribute Telecaster rare would be an understatement. Here is one of the sentences we found while researching this guitar in a Telecaster forum "I'm beginning to believe that this guitar is like a jackalope, people say it exists but you don't ever see one. I have never seen one in person, nor have I ever met anyone who has one. I especially haven't seen one on sale." Well, we can now confirm that the guitar does indeed exist. Undoubted features - apart from the certificate - are the embroidered leather emblem on the upper body, the "W" inlay on the 12th fret and the banjo tuner for the low E string. The guitar was the first Custom Shop tribute model for Waylon Jennings, who alongside Willie Nelson was the most successful representative of the outlaw movement in Nashville. It is based on his original '53 Teles, which he had decorated with leather art and modified with the banjo tuner, which allows the E string to be tuned down to D more easily. The Tribute Telecaster comes from the early Cunetto era of the Custom Shop and in keeping with this era comes with Vintage-style frets, but plays excellently thanks to the perfect medium neck profile and good string action. The sound can be used in exactly the same way in any recording in Nashville: twang without end, but still enough substance in the tone for all subtle playing styles. We are very proud to be able to offer you this rare bird in top condition and with original case candy such as the signature strap. In addition, there is a curiosity that makes this guitar something very special: the previous owner noticed that the serial number on the certificate was not the same as on the headstock. He then contacted the Fender Custom Shop, who admitted the mistake (the two certificates had been mixed up at a trade fair) and sent him a new certificate signed by Ron Thorn. So you get two certificates for the Telecaster, which we can offer you in top condition.
