Anyone who buys a Rory Gallagher Strat should know what they're getting into - namely, a straight rock guitar from which you shouldn't necessarily expect delicate Mark Knopfler sounds. This is also the case with the noble Masterbuilt version of this model: Dale Wilson has built an incredibly authentic tribute instrument here that wants to be played loud and hard. Of course, this does not mean that clean sounds sound pappy and harsh. But even without distortion, you notice the gnarly basic character of the guitar, which would have given Rory great pleasure. The three 60s Strat single coils let singlenotes and chords pearl out of the amp in a transparent and incredibly clear way. With distortion, the guitar then blossoms completely and provides screaming lead sounds and biting rhythm riffs. If you're used to warmer Strats, you'll have to get used to this one a bit - but if you want to authentically bring aggressive blues rock à la Rory Gallagher to your ears, this is the ultimate guitar for that. Playing comfort is of course impeccable thanks to the 60s style Oval C neck profile, 9.5" radius and "Vintage Upgrade" 45085 frets. The Masterbuilt Rory Gallagher Strats are insanely rare birds, and you'll almost never get them from Dale Wilson in particular.
