The first attempts at artificially aging guitars were carried out by Fender as early as the late 1980s, in order to be able to supply owners of vintage originals with authentic replacement parts. But it wasn't until the 1995 NAMM show that the Custom Shop presented the first reliced series models - and couldn't save itself from orders. This initial phase of Fender relic guitars is today called the Cunetto era, after the relicing expert of the time, Vince Cunetto. We can offer you a beautiful, subtly reliced Mary Kaye Strat from this momentous time. We were surprised ourselves how authentic the guitar looks even by today's standards. The very thin varnish with the small dings and dongs lets the wood structure of the body come through wonderfully, the metal parts are believably oxidized and the typical "fretwear" completes the picture. On top of that, we're simply dealing with a class Strat here. The neck has a comfortable, authentic C-profile and plays just great with the vintage frets. Amplified, the guitar sounds true to the original 50s Strat: very clear, bell-like and with a lot of attack. No matter if you are a collector or a player, every Mary Kaye friend will get his money's worth! The guitar comes from a collector and is therefore still in mint condition.
