Since the late 1980s Fender made the first attempts to artificially age guitars in order to provide owners of vintage originals with authentic replacement parts. At the NAMM show in 1995 the Custom Shop presented the first reliced series models, ...and could hardly save itself from orders thereafter. This initial phase of Fender relic guitars is today called the "Cunetto era" after Vince Cunetto, the relic expert at the time. So we are extremely pleased to be able to offer you here a beautiful, subtly reliced Mary Kaye Strat from this momentous time. Extremely authentic look, even by today's standards. The very thin varnish with the small dings and dongs lets the wood structure of the body come through wonderfully, the gold-colored metal parts are believably oxidized and the White-Blonde finish shows a great yellowed patina. On top of that we're simply dealing with a class Strat here. The neat flamed-maple neck, which even bears the stamp of Masterbuilder icon John Cruz(!), has a comfortable, authentic medium profile and plays just great with the vintage frets. Amplified the guitar sounds true to the original 50s Strat: very clear, bell-like and with lots of attack. No matter if you are a collector or a player, every Mary Kaye friend will get his money's worth here! The guitar comes from collector's hand and is therefore in top condition except for minimal play marks on the first frets.
