A Strat from the early years of the Fender Custom Shop is always something special, but this "American Classic" from 1997, the premium version of the "American Standard Stratocaster", takes the cake in many respects. First of all its sound puts a big grin on the face of every Strat lover. The Texas Special pickups from the Custom Shop show their best side on the amp in combination with the guitar's super resonance behavior. Beautifully direct, crisp, lively and powerful, ...and from the very first notes it becomes clear what kind of musical terrain you are moving into here: wonderfully pearly and bell-like with enough warmth and openness, as well as wild, distorted licks à la Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Blues sound at its very best! And incredibly silky and funky in the intermediate positions. What more could you want? Then it convinces with its great playing characteristics, above all thanks to its extremely comfortable medium neck profile. And its look is simply classy and super interesting. The White Blonde finish clearly shows the structure of the wood, the fantastic grain of the maple neck is phenomenal and the deep dark rosewood fingerboard is not only a visual treat, but also top of the league in terms of feel. Despite its age the Strat is including the frets in top condition apart from a few minor signs of wear. A piece of history with perfect practical value!
