If you're looking for a really good Rock Strat with a large Fender headstock, this Wilson masterpiece is sure to please! This special distinguishing feature of the late 60s and 70s Strats looks particularly good on this '69 by masterbuilder Dale Wilson thanks to the dark “tint” - especially in combination with Dale's fantastic relicing on the body of the guitar. This really must be one of the most exquisite relicing jobs we have ever come across. This is exactly what a real old guitar looks like, one that has been played extensively over decades, but has also been cherished and cared for. Countless hairline cracks are combined here with many quirks of varying degrees and the inevitable abrasion of the lacquer in the characteristic places. As soon as you pick up the guitar you notice the neck in a particularly positive light. Dale Wilson's somewhat slimmer interpretation of the “60s Style Oval C” profile always feels fantastic in the hand. Together with the lacquer-free back, the proven Narrow/Tall frets and the super comfortable 9.5” fretboard radius the result is an extremely comfortable playing feel that really invites you to go crazy. This impression is only enhanced by the fantastic weight of just 3240 grams. However, the biggest highlight is the sound of the Strat with the “Fat 60's” singlecoils, handwound by Josefina Campos. As the name suggests, these pickups are slightly “overwound” and therefore sound particularly fat and juicy without sacrificing any clarity or definition. The sound of the late sixties Strats from the Fender Custom Shop is primarily voiced for Rock amps. If you plug this guitar into a Marshall, Soldano or Friedman, you can hardly believe your ears: every position sounds incredibly fat, bulbous and defined - whether clean or with tons of distortion. And you can play any heavy riff on the bridge pickup without it sounding the slightest bit shrill or unpleasant. Thanks to the middle pickup with “reverse sound/reverse polarity" you don't have to deal with pickup hum in the intermediate positions. Dale has once again thought of every little detail on this great Stratocaster and has definitely conjured up the ultimate late sixties Strat! We are pleased to be able to offer you this guitar in mint condition.
