Michael "the Man" Landau, one of the most sought-after American studio musicians, who has supported countless artists such as Steve Lukather, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson or Miles Davis in their recordings and released numerous solo albums, is known for his virtuoso guitar playing and his so-called "Magic Chords", in which he produces "floating" effects via volume pedal. Certainly the Fender Custom Shop had to dedicate its own signature guitar to this exceptional guitarist. The Stratocaster at hand from this signature series by masterbuilder Andy Hicks is a really special specimen. In addition to the exceptionally beautiful finish in 3-Tone Sunburst, refined by an impressive heavy relicing with numerous hairline cracks, small and larger quirks, as well as an extremely authentic, almost matte vintage patina, it impresses above all with its unique sound and a great playability. Handwound Fat 50's were used here, which deliver a fantastic bell tone, round and pearly, yet distinctly defined. Earthy and expressive, optimal for the perfect Blues sound. In addition the Landau Strat features an exceptional custom pickup circuit with the first tone control going to the neck and middle pickups and the second controlling the treble spectrum of the bridge pickup. Perfect feel is provided by the comfortable "Landau '63 Custom C" neck profile, a 7.25" radius, a lacquer-free neck back and the tried-and-true 6105 Narrow/Tall frets, so you won't want to stop working the enchantingly dark AAA rosewood fingerboard. Andy Hicks - one of the new, highly creative masterbuilders along with Austin MacNutt and David Brown - has really shown with this fantastic Strat what the new guild at the Fender Custom Shop is capable of! We are pleased to be able to offer you this top-of-the-line instrument, including frets, in near mint, unplayed condition.
