We are always fascinated by what incredibly great guitars with the best authentic vintage look leave the Fender Custom Shop in recent years. An example of this is definitely the present Stratocaster. As soon as you open the case you're immediately in love. The warm Candy Apple Red is riddled with a multitude of hairline cracks, peppered with all sorts of major and minor quirks that give the guitar a respective different look depending on the perspective. Especially when it comes to the abrasion in the areas exposed to the player's body masterbuilder Ron Thorn has outdone himself. Not only does the bare wood texture show here, but more importantly, the layer of gold paint immediately underneath the final red finish. Super authentic! And what the great look promises also applies to the sound here: the three Handwound Tomatillo pickups, handwound by pickup guru Josefina Campos, with Alnico II magnets that produce the authentic sound of aged Alnico V magnets from the 50s, deliver an absolutely authentic vintage sound and display a wonderful tonal clarity and purity with a certain amount of treble chime added to the sound. On the amp a fat, rich sound is produced here with a stable bass foundation, pearly highs and crisp attack. And the oppositely wound and polarized center pickup keeps the intermediate positions free of noise. And also the playability leaves nothing to be desired: the pleasant "60 Style Oval C" neck profile together with 12'' radius and the 6105 frets offer the highest and most modern playing comfort. So all around you have a Strat of the absolute upper league, where sound, playability and look can fully convince.
