Jason Smith from the Fender Custom Shop just has a knack for giving Strats an extra dose of mojo. Here we have a prime example of that. The first thing that stands out is the black-over-gold finish. That makes quite something, even more so with the great relicing. But not only pretty to look at but also sonically an absolute killer Strat. Here 60s Handwound Josefina pickups are installed here and these deliver classic and fat Strat sounds. At the neck very crisp, a shot of Hendrix. To me distorted ideal for the blues rock fraction à la Philip Sayce. Middle pickup a shot of Clapton, very throaty and nice '60s. The bridge delivers super rock sounds but without everything ringing away. Thus you can really go for it here! The intermediate positions are no surprises either. Super airy sounds, from John Mayer to Knopfler. The neck has a very pleasant mid-60's C-profile, 9.5" radius and 6105 frets, so it's also super comfortable to play. This is how you want a Stratocaster from the 1960s to be. The condition of the guitar is top notch with only the first three frets showing minimal play wear. Super Strat with optics bonus and killer sound!
