Fender Stratocaster 63 "Coodercaster" LCC Masterbuilt Greg Fessler (2021)

Ry Cooder, session guitarist for the band Taj Mahal and the Rolling Stones, as well as renowned solo artist, originally influenced mainly by the Blues but later mainly involved in so-called world music projects, did not own an electric guitar in 1967. So he was sent to the Fender showroom in Fullerton, where he saw a Stratocaster in Daphne Blue. This became his main guitar on stage and in the studio for the next 12 years. In said showroom Fender liked to show visitors what was technically or visually feasible and so this model came with a matching headstock and bound fingerboard. In the mid-70s Cooder then installed a P-90 at the bridge, with which he wanted to achieve a fatter tone for his famous slide playing. So we are extremely pleased to offer you this interpretation of the "Coodercaster" by Greg Fessler. In keeping with the original it certainly features the unmistakable look of Cooder's "Weapon of Choice". As a Lush Closet Classic it is also very subtle aged with only small hairline cracks across the finish. Just as if it had been hidden in a closet for the last decades. Furthermore, this Strat of course includes all the above features that make Ry's Strat so unique. It offers fantastic playing characteristics with the proven, extremely comfortable "60 Style Oval C" neck profile, a super modern 12'' fingerboard radius, as well as Narrow/Tall frets and the sound speaks for itself. Already extremely resonant dry, this Stratocaster shows at the amp in the very finest way what it can do. The "Fender Custom P90" at the bridge comes along nicely biting and roasting for riffs in the lower registers, but also fat and warm enough to carry solo licks and single notes. And the whole thing without any mud. In contrast the two "Handwound Tomatillo" singlecoils, which produce the authentic sound of aged Alnico-V magnets from the 50s, deliver an absolutely authentic vintage sound with a wonderful tonal clarity and purity, exceedingly bell-like, percussive and pearly with a certain amount of treble chime. Thus, this top-of-the-line instrument can be used to serve numerous musical styles as Ry Cooder has already demonstrated through his multi-faceted repertoire. This extremely limited replica of an iconic Stratocaster, which can be seen on the album cover of "Bop till you Drop", comes to its future owner including the frets in mint condition.
