Jason Smith, master builder with the Fender Custom Shop, always manages to surprise us with his very special guitars. Same here. A Strat with an extra dose of mojo, both in terms of look and sound. The first thing you notice about this '61 Relic is the special finish: Chocolate 3-Tone Sunburst! Here the color gradient doesn't go into black at the edges, but rather into an unusually warm brown tone, which in combination with the subtle aging and the era-appropriate Greenguard is particularly eye-catching. But this guitar isn't just pretty to look at, it's also an absolute killer in terms of sound. Handwound Red Hot Strat pickups are installed here and they deliver classic fat Strat sounds in all positions. From Hendrix, John Mayer, Clapton to 70s hard rock and also in modern music styles you are sonically at home here. Plays brilliantly and is really fun. Top sounds with best playability: the neck has a mid-60s Oval-C profile, which is super comfortable to play in combination with the 10" radius and the Medium-Jumbo frets.
