Fender Stratocaster 61 Pinup Relic Masterbuilt John Cruz (2012)

The pinup Strats from masterbuilder John Cruz are certainly among the most sought-after Strats at the moment. There are two main reasons for this: pinups will no longer be produced in the Fender Custom Shop in the future and John Cruz left the Custom Shop in June 2020. For these two reasons alone we have here an extremely rare instrument with the best possible value retention! In addition, this Strat really is an absolute gem! Top look, great sound, most comfortable playability, ...and all that in a super condition. When it comes to the finish, John Cruz has simply outdone himself. "Olympic White over 3-Color Sunburst", wonderfully yellowed and rocked. Countless hairline cracks, minor and major blemishes and extensive paint abrasion give this Stratocaster an extremely authentic vintage patina that usually only develops after decades of use. The pickups used are "Handwound M.D. Ltd" pickups, which give the guitar a sound that is in no way inferior to its appearance: beautifully bell-like and pearly with an incredible warmth. But it also has an above-average core and mid-range, perfect for Blues and Rock. The bridge is fat and smacking and thanks to the excellent percussiveness and crispness, funky single notes and chords in the intermediate positions with an extra portion of assertiveness are also part of the Strat's multi-faceted repertoire. The neck has a "60 Style Oval C" profile and plays as if by itself with the somewhat more powerful 6100 Jumbo frets and the 9.5'' radius. Apart from the highest collector's value and the masterbuilder legend John Cruz, ...here you get a top instrument that clearly shows how high the bar can be set for masterbuilt guitars from the Fender Custom Shop. Immediately after buying the guitar new, the previous owner had the 6100 frets listed in the spec sheet replaced with 6105 frets according to his preferences. Otherwise this fantastic pinup is in top original condition.
